Best Ball Mania V has officially launched and people have lunged into it. Excitement is high following an NFL draft full of exciting Wide Receivers and people want to try and get crazy with their drafts. I have done a couple drafts and looked at ADP which is constantly in flux. Many Rookies are rising quickly so if you want to try and get some edge on rookies now is the time I’m going to break down the major Rookies, their ADP and what it looks like to try and create those precious stacks. The ADPs were accurate at the time of posting this.

Marvin Harrison Jr. – Wide Receiver – Arizona Cardinals – ADP 14

MHJ has Hall of Fame blood in him and looks set to be an immediate difference maker for the Cardinals and be one of the top players at the coveted WR position in Best Ball. I am pretty high on MHJ as Murray likes a big WR on the outside and he should compliment the team well. Getting the single stack with Murray is actually very doable. You will have a starting pick between 11 – 14 to be in a position to pick MHJ which means Kyler’s ADP of 81 means youre hoping to cop him at pick 83 – 86 so you will need him to fall a bit. I was able to get him at 84 in one of my drafts so totally doable. McBride is the other main stacking partner but he has an ADP of 47 and other then a 11 – 9 pick reach which you shouldn’t do or a major fall it isn’t going to happen. IF you want to double stack you can look at Michael Wilson at ADP 151, but I think a MHJ/Kyler Stack is fine by itself.

Rome Odunze – Wide Receiver – Chicago Bears – ADP 51

The Bears offense is filled with talent and more so because the Falcons needed that Penix. Odunze is an exciting prospect with the number 1 pick QB Caleb Williams, but there is also DJ Moore and Keenan Allen as pass catchers. I like Odunze and its actually really easy to double stack with DJ Moore at an ADP of 25 and get your QB Williams at ADP of 94. You need to start the draft in the first 3 or so picks to be able to pull this off and I think this facilitates a Hero RB strategy if interested, but id prefer getting Lamb, Hill or Chase. I’m not as high on Keenan ADP 44 and you’d need him to fall a bit if you want to stack him with Odunze. I prefer the Moore/Odunze Path or even grabbing Kmet all the way down at ADP 135. Overall I wouldn’t go out of my way to force an Odunze stack but I think there is value if you want too and its easy to pull off.

Brian Thomas Jr – Wide Receiver – Jacksonville Jaguars – ADP 70

Let me say I am a long time Jaguars fan and I actually loved this pick for us. Thomas compliments Kirk and Engram who will go underneath and take the bulk of the targets but Thomas slots in as a big over the top play that Trevor loves so much. Gabe Davis fits a very similar role but BTJ should usurp him quickly. A double stack with Kirk ADP of 55 and BTJ is doable but requires about a 4-5 pick reach on either Kirk or BTJ to make work. If you are picking picks 1-4 you have to reach a little on Kirk around Pick 49 -52 or if you pick 5 – 7 you have to reach on BTJ at pick 68 – 65. Its up to you to determine if the room youre in makes this make sense. It’s a lot easier to take BTJ and Evan Engram(ADP 74) though as you would take them back to back most likely if you are in that starting pick 1 – 4 range. Regardless if you go Engram or Kirk, Trevor has an ADP of 118 and slots perfectly in the starting pick range of 1 – 4 if you want that double stack.

Xavier Worthy – Wide Receiver – Kansas City Chiefs – ADP 78

Tyreek Hill 2.0 is what the Chiefs and Mahomes are hoping for here. The speedster sees immediate upside from the fact Rashee Rice wont see the field for a couple games. It hasn’t made sense to grab Worthy in the couple drafts I’ve done but I want to get to him because his ADP is rising. The difference here from the previous rookies is that if you want to QB stack Worthy you have to pick the QB first. Mahomes has an ADP 49 which doesn’t work great with Worthy’s ADP you will have to reach on one of them to make it work or push your odds and get one of them falling. I don’t see people letting Mahomes or Worthy fall in rooms though so be careful. A double stack with Kelce, Worthy and Mahomes isn’t in the cards unfortunately. This is definitely one of the harder Rookie stacking situations but doable if you enjoy some risk and loss of ADP Value.

Ladd McConkey – Wide Receiver – Los Angeles Chargers – ADP 98

People are low on the Chargers passing offense because Harbaugh is a running machine, but McConkey should see a substantial role in the passing game with a prolific passer in Herbert. Herbert has an ADP of 120 so this makes it very doable if you are in the starting pick 1- 4 range. This feels like a low effort decently high floor single stack you can pull off easily in certain rooms. I’m honestly avoiding any other Chargers pass catchers like the plague as none are very inspiring to me personally but to overall fade Herbert it feels like a mistake.

Honorable Mentions

I don’t want to spend a lot of time on these next two rookies but I do think there is value in them so I wanted to touch on them at least.

Keon Coleman – Wide Receiver – Buffalo Bills – ADP 106

Josh Allen is the QB1 and a fantasy stud so its hard to not want a piece of him but his pass catchers are not super exciting. Coleman comes in with potential to be a big playmaker for Josh Allen and once again you will have to take the QB first but I think if you are in the middle starting picks of the draft you can easily justify both.

Adonai Mitchell – Wide Receiver – Indianapolis Colts – ADP 96

Anthony Richardson is a desirable fantasy QB to want and I expect his game to involve more pass catchers as he grows. Unfortanely this stack is not natural to pull off and would require some reaching or lucky breaks to pull off, but AD Mitchell stands to be a prime target for Richardson so if it works out in your rooms it might be worth a shot.

Random Rookies that don’t require a Stack

Rookie Running Backs that slot well into 0 RB strategies. Some of these players have shots at 50/50 backfields and some are handcuffs so choose accordingly based on your roster and room.

Trey Benson ADP 100 – Arizona Cardinals
Jonathan Brooks ADP 106 – Carolina Panthers
Blake Corum ADP 133 – Los Angeles Rams
MarShawn Lloyd ADP 154 – Green Bay Packers
Ray Davis ADP 182 – Buffalo Bills
Bucky Irving ADP 184 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Kimani Vidal ADP 231 – Los Angeles Chargers

Rookie Wide Receivers that are fine as a one off. These guys come into offense that arent all that exciting to justify a stack but could see enough targets and routes ran to be relevant.

Troy Franklin ADP 132 – Denver Broncos
Ricky Pearsall ADP 140 – San Francisco 49ers
Xavier Legette ADP 147 – Carolina Panthers
Ja’lynn Polk ADP 160 – New England Patriots

BONUS STACK FOR THE BRAVE (OR STUPID)

Jayden Daniels – Quarterback – Washington Commanders – ADP 122

Jayden Daniels is a boom or bust guy and youre really hoping for his running game to carry him to fantasy greatness. I have seen some people advocate for a solo Jayden Daniels in your Best Ball and I have a hard stance against 0 Stack Quarterbacks but you do you. If you do want to stack Jayden Daniels you have some options but I would limit him to the single stack maybe a double at good ADP Value. In my opinion you have three options for stack partners. Terry Mclaurin at ADP of 62 it doesn’t really work great and it would require a reach to some regard, but you honestly might get lucky and have Daniels fall to you. The other two fun options are TE Ben Sinnot at ADP 194 and Luke McCaffrey at ADP 196. These are rookie flyers but Sinnot has great physical stature and Luke McCaffrey has a brother who is the fantasy guy. I wouldn’t go out of my way to do this and I actually like Sinnot and McCaffrey as one offs as well.

Recap

If you are drafting right now I would keep it light. The odds of a team you draft right now going the distance are low compared to ones you draft later in the summer. There is an edge to gain and rookies are a big part of this as many have a rising ADP already. If you like this and want more general Best Ball Strategy check out my other article to learn more.
